Description: Este conjunto de datos es una representación espacial de las provincias (forma de área) descritas en las leyes oficiales en materia de Límites Político-Administrativos de la República de Panamá, actualizado al 2024. A partir de las versiones 2016 y 2023. La primera generada para plasmarla en los mapas de la Cartografía Nacional, la segunda y tercera versión son actualizaciones. Los insumos utilizados están referidos al año de creación de cada unidad y van desde mapas y fotos aéreas históricas, croquis, planos, modelos digitales del terreno, inspección y trabajo de campo, ortofotos a partir de diferentes sensores. Además, se incluyen información sobre fecha de creación y sus modificaciones, número de gaceta y codificaciones nacionales proporcionadas por el Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Censos.La cantidad de ítem o registros de provincias y comarcas es de 20 registros tipo polígono; de los cuales 7 son uso masas de agua y unos 13 son de uso tierra.En el registro Listado de Codificación Numérica del INEC al año 2022, se tienen que son 10 provincias y 3 comarcas; por lo que es adecuado a los datos de base.Es importante aclarar que en el conjunto de datos existen registros de territorios indígenas detectados de la siguiente manera: unas 3 comarcas están registradas a nivel de provincia; 1 comarca está registrada a nivel de distrito; y 2 comarcas están registradas a nivel corregimiento; a parte de1 polígono ficticio registrado a nivel de distrito para la Comarca Kuna Yala para completar el conjunto de datos homogéneos y uniformes a nivel del país; en su parte de representación geográfica.
